A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMODORE
In the past three months we have made a concerted effort within the Club to ‘up our game' in terms of our Food and Beverage department. We have employed Andrea Kruck as our Food and Beverage Manager, and more recently employed Tyrow Power as our Sous Chef.
Both Andrea and Tyrow are making a big impact within the Club. The new and varied menus are being well received, as is the service from our waitrons who are being managed and trained on an on-going basis. We are continually receiving good comments from members in this regard, and will soon become the envy of other establishments in the area - especially as we believe we have one of the best settings in Durban. Plus our Club is unique in that we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. The ambiance within the Club is also improving every day as tables are presented very professionally, and tasteful decoration is becoming more a part of what one expects to see within the Club. And the wonderful flower arrangements by Marion Langois add a creative touch to the beautiful setting we enjoy at the RNYC.
With the World Cup now upon us, this may be a good time to make use of the Club which offers a relaxing environment, both indoors and outdoors, and good food and cold drinks over which to linger.
The Britannia Room is a more formal area which provides a comfortable and beautiful setting or dining, whether at lunch time or in the evening. To me, the Britannia Room offers one of the best bar cum restaurant venues our city has to offer. On the Lower Deck we have casual dining and bar facilities, and wonderful lawns right up to the waterfront where members and their guests can enjoy a relaxing drink and meal under an umbrella, or in the warm winter sun, while watching the harbour work! June offers the best of Durban's weather - warm sunny conditions which are just perfect for those long lazy days in a tranquil setting in good company and with good food too. I can only implore all members, especially those who have not used the Club for some time, to make a special effort to come down and experience the positive changes for themselves, and to share the "RNYC Jewel" with their friends.
