A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMODORE
Your General Committee is committed to improving the Club's Food and Beverage services for members. As a result, and in the best interest of taking F & B within the Club to a new level, the committee has employed the services of a Food and Beverage Manager. This will be followed, very soon, by engaging the services of a Sous Chef. Andrea Kruck will be joining the RNYC on Monday 1 March, and I wish her well in her tenure at the RNYC. She is up to the challenge of Club life and members will very soon see improvements in a host of different areas of her responsibility.
I would like to appeal to members to give her time to settle in, find her feet and evaluate her available resources before implementing new systems and procedures. Andrea has been given achievable terms of reference and targets - so members will see improvements flowing soon. One of the problems with Club life is that each and every member has their own opinion as to how the Club is operated. While this is respected, the General Committee will not tolerate any ‘white anting' of this initiative which is being done for the exclusive benefit of the members and their guests. Gavin Moodley who has filled the F & B Manager's role has become House and Maintenance Manager, as well as being a Duty Manager.
These are exciting times for the RNYC. I trust that members will embrace Andrea and her initiatives, and adopt a positive, warm and co-operative attitude towards her.

RNYC AND GARMIN PARTNERSHIP
The RNYC has entered into a sponsorship partnership with Garmin SA. This partnership will see Garmin loan their 10-metre ‘Garmin Duck' to the Club for use as an attendent craft during Club races and events. This duck will be housed securely on Club premesis. Plus, Garmin has generously agreed to sponsor the RNYC Wednesday evening races as overall season sponsor. With immediate effect these races will be known as the ‘GARMIN RNYC Wednesday Twilight Series'. Garmin will generously provide end-of season cumulative prizes for this. The Sailing and General Committees welcome Garmin SA aboard and look forward to a long and rewarding partnership with them.
