SAILING MATTERS
by the Rear Commodore, Gregg Dobson
Saturday Dinghy Racing
A fleet of Lasers, Extras, Dabchicks, Mirrors & four FF's sailed in the PYC Seaport Series. The wind was a gusty 15 - 18 knot North-Easterly. The boats sailed the deep water course with the start just off the 'Container Terminal'. The boats enjoyed some exciting sailing in the breezy conditions. The first race was won by P Harris/J Kriek, 2nd T Beddingfield / S Hegerstrom, 3rd B Dimond & Tanya, 4th S Musgrave & son. The second race was delayed due to shipping movement, but the Lasers started. A further 25min delay was incurred whilst the bunker barge moved into the 'Container Terminal' area. The second race saw the same winners as the first. 1st P Harris/J Kriek, 2nd T Beddingfield / S Hegerstrom, 3rd B Dimond & Tanya, 4th S Musgrave & son.

Wednesday Evening Sailing
by Chris Sutton - PYC Rear Commodore Keelers
Folks please remember that this is a Racing Series which means that if you have any gripes about the conduct of another boat you are entitled to lodge a protest with the Race Officer. You are also obliged to adhere to Rule 69 which goes something like this :
GROSS MISCONDUCT
69 ALLEGATIONS OF GROSS MISCONDUCT
69.1 Action by a Protest Committee
(a) When a protest committee, from its own observation or a report received from any source, believes that a competitor may have committed a gross breach of a rule, good manners or sportsmanship, or may have brought the sport into disrepute, it may call a hearing. As we are trying to encourage people of all ages, personalities and from diverse backgrounds to get involved in the sport, we really don't want to get involved in hearings of this nature. If you simply adhere to the spirit of good seamanship, sportsmanship and manners things will run smoothly.
VASCO DA GAMA RACE
There are only three months to go before the start of VASCO 2010!! The Organising Committee of the Vasco da Gama Race 2010 are happy to inform all interested entrants in Vasco 2010 that through the efforts of PYC's Rear Commodore Keelers, Chris Sutton, we have been able to arrange for King & Sons to provide skippers with assistance with procedures to clear in and out of Maputo. Obviously actual dues etc. will be for the individual yacht's account. We would like to thank Chris for this initiative, and thank Andre and Dan from King and Sons for agreeing to get involved. We look forward to receiving your entry as soon as possible!!
