OLD FLARES - A WARNING

I have just heard the most alarming story. As many of you know there are large green bins kept outside the club, in the vicinity of the entrance to the Marina. Yesterday morning someone observed a vagrant going through the trash. During the course of his investigations into the 'edibility' of his find, he managed to ignite the flare! Folks PLEASE, if you have expired flares to dispose of take them across the road to Seaport, who as one of their many services to the yachting community, will dispose of them in the proper manner. And just in case you don't realize this, it is a criminal offence to throw flares into a rubbish bin. Worse still it is just plain dumb. If flares are found in the bins the police will be notified and it won't take long for a decent forensic investigation to trace and charge the culprit. Seamanship is a life skill!

LADIES DRESS CODE REMINDER
This is a reminder to all our lady members, and their guests, of our dress code. Casual dress is permitted in the Lowerdeck, and, during summer, in the Britannia Room as well. At all other times when using the Britannia Room, appropriate attire for the ladies is required. Swimsuits require a cover-up in the Lowerdeck area. Footwear is required in these areas as well. Hats should never be worn inside the Club

WHY NOT BRAAI AT THE CLUB?
With Durban's summer weather in full bloom it's time for members to consider braaing at the club on those balmy summer evenings Durban is so well known for. Braais can be held everyday, provided the Club Duty Manager gets notice thereof before 12h00 the day of the braai. On Sundays & Public Holidays fires are lit after the first braai pack has been sold and continue until 18h00.
The following Braai Packs are available:
3 Meat - Steak, Boerewors & Chicken Kebabs
2 Meat - a choice of two from the above.
1 Meat - a choice of one from the above
Included are 4 different salads & rolls.
Members are not permitted to bring their own meat.

Wi-Fi
Due to the Club's Wi-Fi system being abused in terms of the volume of bandwidth used (up to 3 gigabytes per day), a new policy of ‘user pay' has been introduced with immediate effect. Pre-paid internet time will be available to members who can either buy time (minutes or hours) or a specified number of ‘gigs' (gigabytes). The Club also has a printer available for use at a fee per page. This is behind the downstairs bar - so speak to the barmen should you require use of the printer.

CLUB CLOTHING

FUNCTION ROOMS AVAILABLE
The Club has two function rooms available for hire for private functions. Members should note that they do not pay for room hire when booking a function - so consider having your next business or private function at the RNYC.

MEMBERS PRICING BENEFIT
Members are reminded that the Club still has a ‘two-tier' pricing system, and that bona-fide members who produce their valid membership cards, enjoy a discount on the advertised prices. The General Committee discourages members from loaning their Club card to non-members to benefit from the lower pricing as they are only defrauding the Club and fellow members with this practice.
PLEASE DO NOT LEND YOUR CARD TO NON-MEMBERS SO THAT THEY CAN BENEFIT FROM A LOWER PRICE.
