I have to share my disappointment with the organizers of the PYC keeler mini regatta in so far as one goes to a lot of trouble to arrange bridge and mark laying boat crews, who also make plans to give of their time, only to find that the sailing is cancelled due to lack of support. The weather was nothing short of perfect yet the yachties chose not to appear. The time has come, as far as I am concerned that we need to reintroduce the discipline of an entry form and if sufficient entries are not lodged by 1800 on the Friday the event is cancelled.
Entries could be by email and they would still be free but at least the organizers could then make a decision to cancel or proceed in time to let those persons, who give of their time to make sailing happen, an opportunity to make alternate plans for their weekend.
This coming weekend 12/13th sees a dinghy mini regatta hosted by RNYC so let's see all those "chirpers", who wanted this format once a month included in the calendar, on the water.
The Notice of Race for the East Coast Experience hosted by PYC is available and as the weather at this time of the year is so much more predictable let's at least make plans to enter timeously and make a commitment if distance racing is your forte.
Also available is the NOR for the first of three 150th Anniversary Races to be hosted by the RNYC and this takes place on the 26 - 28th April both offshore and in the bay. Sail Africa has decided to enter three boats for the first time. Talking about Sail Africa elsewhere in this Royal News is the end of term report of Sail Africa and members should take the time to update themselves on the progress of this worthy venture.
We are running out of summertime
Don't waste it keep sailing.
